Comstock Resources, Inc. Announces Successful Well at Double A Wells Field

FRISCO, Texas, Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Comstock Resources, Inc. (NYSE: CRK) ("Comstock" or the "Company") today announced the results of a successful field extension well drilled in the Company's Double A Wells field located in Polk County, Texas. Comstock recently drilled the Jackson AA#1 to test the northern producing limits of the field. The well was drilled to a total depth of 13,990 feet and was completed in the upper Woodbine formation through perforations from 13,873 to 13,899 feet. The well's natural completion was tested at 8,983 thousand cubic feet of natural gas per day and 696 barrels of condensate per day (13.2 million cubic feet of natural gas equivalent per day) flowing on a 16/64 inch choke at 7,500 psig flowing tubing pressure. Comstock owns a 52% working interest and is the operator of this new well.

Comstock drilled 11 successful wells in or near the Double A Wells field in 2000. The Company plans to utilize two drilling rigs continuously throughout 2001 to drill approximately 20 prospects in and around the Company's Double A Wells field in its Southeast Texas region.
